The Norwegian Mountaineering Centre (Norsk Tindesenter) is a brand new visitor center in Åndalsnes focusing on Norwegian mountaineering history and mountain adventure sports.  Start your visit by watching our film "Trollfolk" (all languages) from the Romsdal surrounding, and see what great activites are done here. The story incorporates a fairytail story with animation that is sure to keep everyone interested for the time the movie lasts (15 min). The moviescreen itself is 3D, simulates a rock wall, and reaches from floor to ceiling. After the movie you can continue your visit on 2nd floor, and explore the new and modern exhibit of the Norwegian mountaineering museum. The exhibit features several interactive stations, different activites to try, videos, photos, documentation as well as a shadow theatre film to finish up with. All texts/videos are in Norwegian and English language. In the tower of the building you`ll find Norway`s highets indoor climbing hall. Here you can watch people climb of even give it a go yourself. With  60 climbs spread over 20 anchors, there is plenty of scope whatever your ability. For the little ones (3 yrs +) we have a nice wee bouldering cave that can keep the smalles ones occupied for hours.    Guided tours of the museum available upon request.

Intro to Climbing Tasters

Never been climbing before? This is the perfect way to try climbing! Our intro to climbing tasters will get you on the wall, with one of our experienced instructors looking after you. With climbs set to suit all levels of experience and ability, this is an experience suitable for all. Intro to climbing tasters are perfect for adults and children alike. They are group lessons, with a maximum of 6 people. Duration: 1 hour.  After the session you are of course welcome to continue climbing on the bouldering wall, or explore the Norwegian mountaineering centre further.

Guided tour: Romsdalsstigen Via Ferrata -Intro wall (3-4hrs)

The Romsdalsstigen Intro wall route is the perfect introduction to Via Ferrata climbing, where you move out of the comfort zone into a more stimulating and memorable experience. The climb takes  3-4 hrs return, and does not require any previous climbing experience. You will be guided by professionals and secured to the mountain by cable throughout. Minimum age: 12 yrs/40 kg. Children from 9 yrs are allowed to join, please let us know in that case.  Meet at the reception of the Norwegian Mountaineering Centre (Norsk Tindesenter) in Åndalsnes 10am. Via Ferrata Kit hire

Experienced via ferrata climbers may climb Romsdalsstigen Via Ferrata on their own.  Via ferrata kits are compulsary, and can be rented at the Norwegian Mountaineering Centre.  The gear must be returned no later than 6 p.m. the same day. Guided tour: Romsdalsstigen Via Ferrata -West wall (5-6hrs)

The Romsdalsstigen West wall route is a real challenge. This is the trip if you seek excitement, like to challenge yourself, have a physical condition above the average and are comfortable with climbing in steep terrain.The climb takes you to the top of Nesaksla, where you get a magnificent view of the Romsdalen valley. The climb is more exposed, vertical and thrilling, as well as including an airy bridge crossing. The West wall route takes 5-6 hrs return, and is a fully professional guided ascent secured to the mountain by cable always. Minimum age: 16 yrs/40 kg.
